"This is my painful write up against
the women atrocities-harassments, which is happening now all over world and
sadly in our own country."
Violence against women is a worldwide phenomenon. Crime against women varies: sometimes it begins even before their birth (feticide),
sometimes in the adulthood and other stages of life. Domestic violence has been
a crucial issue in the contemporary Indian society. Half of Indian population constitute of women and most of them are grinding under the
socio-cultural and religious structures. One gender has been controlling the
space of the India's social economic, political and religious fabric since
immemorial time.
Male
supremacy is one of the curse that our society is facing rite now especially in
small villages, undeveloped areas were girls are not allowed even to complete
their basic education and they are forced to family life even before maturity.
It is clear from our history books that a catastrophic custom prevailed in our
own society until Raja Ram Mohan Roy banned the Sati system but still there are some religious customs were they still
believe that girls should be treated as Dasi (like a slave). The aforementioned things deliberately lowers the
respect towards our respective religious values which pays no respect or social
status to the women.
It is common to read news about violence
or crimes committed towards women population every day. Our orthodox society is
so much prejudiced by stone aged habits and stupid customs and because of some
bloody religious moral code and ethics that a violated woman, whether forced or
helpless, has no place in the society. Ultimately the social status of a victim
is doomed.
Another danger in India is that
the laws put forward by the Indian penal code against sexual harassment does
not differentiate between major and minor rapes. Out of every ten-rape cases,
six will be of minor girls. In every seven minutes a crime is committed against
women in India. Every 26 minutes a woman is molested. Every 34 minutes a rape
takes place. Every 42 minutes a sexual harassment incident occurs. Every 43
minutes a woman is kidnapped. And every 93 minutes a woman is burnt to death
over dowry. One-quarter of the reported rapes involves under aged girls of 16
mostly but the vast majorities are never reported. Although the penalty is
severe, convictions are rare.
Just consider the recent issue
which happened in Delhi on December 16; A young women was allegedly gang raped
by 6 men and tortured which lead to her physical and mental devastation and
finally ruthless death on 29 December 2012 at Singapore. This not only a single
topic or an issue to consider for an emotional protest, if we search for the
atrocities and harassments towards women perhaps we may get infinite numbers of
cases which turned out to be more brutal than the Delhi rape issue.
Where do women think they are safe….
In mom’s womb…????
With police….?????
Under the safety of our beloved politicians…..????
In home…..????
In school/college……????
Or with your best buddies or boyfriends……???
NO…!!! Unfortunately nowhere. Women
wont be in safer hands anywhere as we are well aware that we have lot of cases committed
by POLICE, POLITICIANS OR OTHER WELL RESPECTED/REPUTED PERSONNELS etc….who
ruthlessly harassed women publicly.
This is just an example of what is happening………
This is just an example of what is happening………
Not only police, lets take armed
forces for instance; raped by our militants were reported in Jammu &
Kashmir. There have been allegations of rape and mass rape in Jammu and Kashmir
being carried out by both Indian armed forces and militant groups and the
Indian government carried out three inquiries into the allegations and
concluded that it had been a hoax.
Next is politicians, who are all
elected by we silly civilians for the social responsibility are also involved
in such brutal activities. As I don’t
want to reveal the name, a Goa based politician who was recently involved in a
rape of a foreign lady who was having dinner with him in his own residence.
This is just one such case which does not see light because of political
influence and there are lot more of such cases which are bribed and erased
without even a trace by the help of high political influence.
Some of the well known
persons/politicians and some lame political parties and their stupid arrogant
followers once said “girls should not use mobile phones”, and “free interaction
between girls and boys should be diminished” so that abuse can be prevented as 95% of the rapists are well known to victims.
This could be a blind statement which I personally oppose for the better
redemption of the victims.
After all these, what I personally
think is, atrocity cases are deliberately increasing in our society because of our
law enforcement which is corrupted and improper and totally can erase even a
murder case if the criminal has got enough political influence and better
financial status.
The new generation doesn’t take
any interest in the moral roots and the parents also take least interest in
teaching the moral ethics until and unless something happens to their
offspring”. Especially in northern
states (well we Bangaloreans have better knowledge about them since we know them
for a couple of decades) publicity (fame and all other bullshits) is more
important to them than public respect and moral ethics because; just take an
example of Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn
Chopra..etc etc.. ;-) for them show off is supreme rather than culture and
social responsibilities. Everybody wants
to end up in bollywood or Hollywood ;-) especially teenagers and they will take
any desperate steps for that and our new society supports them with falsified
social medias and personally customized law enforcement officials.
There is no point in keeping a
strict dress code for woman since nobody is going to follow this even after a
big disaster like the Delhi rape incident, so some things and views should be
changed both by the law enforcement agencies and the society and the women for
sure. Girls and boys especially
teenagers are in their adolescence and will be in a hormone rush, and just
imagine what will a drunk adolescent will do if he or his friends or a group
sees a girl in micro mini or in some explicit exposed outfits walks in front of
them and that too in a lonely place. SO WE CAN’T JUST BLAME THE GIRLS OR THE BOYS OR
THE ALCOHOL. Strict rules should be implemented on the
alcohol usage i.e. minimum drinking age should be raised to 21 for guys and
girls.
Most importantly girls should be
educated more about their dressing sense and society. They should be well educated not to fall for
silly things like showing off for pride and stupid ideas about fame
things. Here everybody is wannabe rockstars
and they will do anything for it even girls are not different in this case.
Strict measures should be implemented to prevent stupid TV commercials and
programs that will encourage people to show off especially teenagers and shows
featuring explicit content should be banned.
Parents are the ones responsible for the awareness of their kids since
they are the new generation and tomorrow’s citizens.
Strict rules should be put forward
to prevent public obscenity and semi
nudity; literally exposing their personal assets to public to a limit :P :P. Girls’ mindset should be a bit altered in
case of fashion funda and all….(this is all for you girls’ safety yaar….!!! J J I request no hard feelings or
offense, nothing personal )
What is most important in order to
protect women from atrocities and to provide justice to the victims of any kind
of assault is that a STRICT rule has
to be established with strong conviction. Any case of assault must be treated
as violation of the law and acts against humanity and severe actions must be
taken promptly as prescribed by the respective laws. Castration and punishing
in public is one of the most befitting sentence which can be imposed on any serial offender or paedophile (in simple
words psycho rapists and serial killers), where it is practiced presently in
the Middle East. In Middle East they
punish the criminals in front of the fellow citizens. The big benefit of this is that this will
cause an impact on each and every one with regards to the seriousness of the
offence and the power of the LAW (Nobody will dare to raise a
thought of rape if they witness a public execution of a rape criminal).
I believe, not only the police and
law enforcing agencies, but also the administration, judiciary and civil
society bodies and the women rights bodies have a greater role in achieving
social security and safety of women.
The remedies which I thought to my
level are to increase the police patrol with lady officials to a effective
number by installing and implementing an central
helpline number specially for the women welfare and strict rules against
these type of crimes no matter who does it and a strong and uncorrupted shadow
police force should be enforced for the
better cause.
